Procedure for Buying a Weapon
Purchasing weapons in the UAE:
- Obtaining a certificate of good conduct from Abu Dhabi Police before Tuesday 7th October 2008.
- Having selected the weapon, complete the form provided by the participating weapons company in the exhibition and attach 2 photographs, a copy of Khulasa and a copy of your passport.
- Obtain the approval of the Weapons licensing office on the purchase order. This must be done at the exhibition.
- Pay the required amount to the company.
- The weapons licensing office will receive the weapon from the company and the exhibition organizers after the closing of the exhibition and will finalize licensing procedures and then deliver the weapon to the new owner.
- If the weapon is to be brought from outside the UAE, an NOC will be issued to the company to bring in the weapon, which will be cleared and delivered to the concerned representative by the Police department.
The procedures of purchasing for the GCC countries:
- The buyer should provide the licensing office with an NOC from his country for buying and exporting weapons to his country, which should be attested by the embassy of his country.
- The weapons licensing office will provide the NOC holder with permission to purchase the weapon.
- Pay the required amount to the company.
- Weapons licensing office will receive the weapon from the company or the exhibition organizers after the closing of the exhibition, and deliver it to the port authorities for shipping procedures in order to send it out of the country according to the time schedule fixed by the buyer.
Recommendations of the Federal Environmental Agency with regards to the selling and purchase of animals and their derivatives:
ADIHEX complies with the recommendations of the Federal Environmental Agency (Cites Management Authority in the UAE) and Federal Law No. (11) of 2002 concerning Regulation and Control of International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, and particularly the articles (25, 26, 27, 28, and 29) of this law. The recommendats are as follows:
- Not to exhibit animals, plants or their derivatives (alive or Taxidermic displays) that do not hold CITES Certificates or Permits (such as Houbara Bustard, Houbara lures, skins and other hunting trophies.
- Not to import live CITES- listed species or their derivatives before obtaining Import Certificates (from the Federal Environmental Agency for Abu Dhabi Emirate or the Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries for the northern Emirates- Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Um Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Al Fujairah).
- Not to import CITES- listed species or their derivatives before obtaining Export Certificates from the CITES authorities concerned with CITES implementation in the exporting countries.
- Not to give away falcons in the raffle draws during the exhibition before getting them initially registered and approved by the UAE CITES Office present at the exhibition.
- Please note that delivering a falcon without notifying the CITES Office will hamper transferring it to a new owner, or delay exporting / re-exporting it, until the necessary documents are obtained.
- When transferring a falcon to a new owner, the old owner should give the new owner a copy of the falcon’s Birth Certificate or the falcon’s Export Certificate issued from the country of origin.
